Description
Our oak blend pellets come on a 1 tonne pallet of 15 kg bags. They’re a hardwood heating pellet built around oak, a dense timber that gives a long, steady burn in pellet stoves and boilers. If you like the idea of hardwood heat and want a fuel with oak at its core, this is the one to look at.

Here’s what’s on the pallet, how the fuel behaves, and what to check before you order.

Why oak?
Oak is one of the heaviest common timbers. Pressed into pellets, that density turns into a fuel with plenty of wood in every pellet. In a stove or boiler, oak blend pellets:
- Burn slowly and evenly once lit
- Hold a steady temperature, which suits long heating cycles
- Mean fewer hopper refills on cold days
- Leave a good glowing bed in stoves with a fire window
Because oak has less resin than pine or spruce, it takes a moment longer to catch. Once it’s going, it settles into a calm, even burn.

Checking your appliance
Look in your stove or boiler manual for two things before ordering oak blend pellets: the pellet diameter it takes (most domestic appliances use 6 mm, some boilers use 8 mm) and any fuel grade the maker asks for. Many manufacturers refer to the ENplus standard, whose A1 grade caps moisture at 10% and ash at 0.7%. Send us your appliance details and we’ll check the current batch against them.
These are heating pellets only. For grills and smokers, use our hardwood BBQ pellets.
Getting the best burn
Dense hardwood fuel rewards a little attention to your appliance. A few tips for oak blend pellets:
- Check the air settings. Some stoves are set up at the factory for softwood. Hardwood can need a touch more combustion air. Your manual or installer can adjust this.
- Clean the burn pot regularly. Even low ash builds up over days of running. A clear burn pot keeps the flame clean and the output steady.
- Keep the hopper topped up, not overfilled. Close the lid properly so damp air doesn’t get in.
- Pour from the top of each bag. Leave the last bit of dust in the bag rather than tipping it in.
- Service once a season. A yearly check of seals, fans and the flue keeps the appliance burning efficiently.
If you notice more smoke, a lazy orange flame or a lot of unburnt pellets in the ash, the stove is usually short of air or due a clean, rather than anything wrong with the oak blend pellets themselves.
Who buys oak blend pellets?
Mostly households with pellet boilers or stoves that run for long periods: rural homes, larger houses, and people in places with long, cold winters. Small businesses with pellet boilers buy them too, often a few pallets at a time before the cold sets in.
Heat from a pallet
Quality wood pellets hold roughly 4.6 to 5 kWh of energy per kilogram, so a tonne of oak blend pellets carries somewhere around 4,600 to 5,000 kWh. That’s about half the energy in a thousand litres of heating oil. How long a pallet lasts depends on your appliance, the size of your home and the winter. A stove used in the evenings will make it last much longer than a boiler heating a whole house in January.
For general background on the fuel, see the wood pellet article.
Storage

Keep the pallet indoors or under a sound roof, off bare concrete, away from damp walls, and wrapped until you need it. Open one bag at a time. Oak blend pellets that get wet swell and crumble into dust, and dust blocks augers. Kept dry, they’ll stay in good condition all season.
We hold stock in a dry, humidity-controlled warehouse and wrap every pallet before dispatch.
Ordering and delivery
Once you order, we confirm the pallet quantity and the delivery cost to your address, pick the pallet from dry storage, wrap it and send it by road. We deliver worldwide. Freight depends on location and quantity, so it’s agreed before dispatch. If access to your property is narrow or steep, tell us in the order notes or through the contact page.
Oak blend pellets: questions
Are oak blend pellets the same as pure oak pellets?
No. A blend is built around oak with other hardwood mixed in. Ask us for the ratio in the current batch.
Do oak blend pellets leave much ash?
Hardwood pellets generally leave a little more ash than softwood, but it’s still low. If ash builds up faster than expected, check your stove’s air settings.
How do I store oak blend pellets over summer?
Leftover bags keep well if they stay dry. Keep them sealed, off the floor and under cover, and use them first when the heating season starts again.
Can I mix oak blend pellets with softwood in the hopper?
Most appliances cope, but mixing makes it harder to set the stove up well. If you want both, burn them in turns rather than together.
Can I buy single bags?
This listing is per pallet. For very large volumes, see bulk hardwood pellets by the truckload.
Where can I compare all your pellets?
The hardwood pellets page explains the fuel, and the full range is in the shop.
