Description

Order bulk hardwood pellets here by the full truckload: 24 tonnes of oak and beech heating pellets, bagged and stacked on pallets, delivered in a single drop. This is the option for trade buyers and large heating systems that burn through fuel all winter and don’t want to reorder every few weeks.

Hardwood is the denser fuel. That makes it a favourite for big boilers running long cycles, where a slow, even burn keeps output steady and reduces the number of hopper or store refills.

Why buy bulk hardwood pellets by the truck

There are three practical reasons people move up to a full load.

Fewer deliveries. One truck instead of a stream of pallet deliveries means less time waiting in and less disruption on site.

Security of supply. Pellet demand peaks when the weather turns. Having the season’s fuel already in your store takes that worry away.

Resale. Bagged bulk hardwood pellets on pallets are easy to sell on by the pallet or by the bag, which is how many of our trade customers use them.

How oak and beech pellets burn

Oak and beech carry plenty of wood fibre in every pellet. They light a little slower than softwood but then burn calmly and hold their heat. In a boiler, that gives you a stable flame and fewer swings in output. In a stove, it leaves a good glowing bed.

Ash is low, though as with any wood fuel you’ll still need to clean the burner and exchanger on schedule. Many buyers want to see a recognised fuel grade. The best known is ENplus, whose A1 class allows up to 10% moisture and 0.7% ash. Ask us how the batch of bulk hardwood pellets we’re loading now measures up, and we’ll answer before you order.

If quick ignition matters more to your setup, look at the softwood version: bulk softwood pellets.

Getting 24 tonnes delivered

A full load arrives on a large articulated lorry. A few things need sorting first:

  • Room for the truck to reach your site, park and turn
  • A forklift or telehandler, plus a driver, to unload the pallets
  • Firm, level ground where the pallets can come off
  • Covered space to store about two dozen pallets

When we confirm your order we’ll check these points with you and agree the freight cost to your address. We ship to customers worldwide, and the delivery price depends on where you are, so nothing goes out before you’ve seen it.

Checking the delivery

When the truck arrives, count the pallets and walk round each stack before signing. Torn wrap, crushed bags and damp patches at the base are the things to look for. If you find damage, photograph it, write it on the delivery note and let us know the same day.

Open a bag or two from different pallets. Good bulk hardwood pellets are hard, smooth and slightly glossy, they break with a clean snap, and there’s only a small amount of dust in the bottom of the bag. If you see a lot of fines, tell us.

Reselling hardwood pellets

Many of our truckload customers sell on to local households. A few things help:

  • Keep the pallets wrapped and dry until sale, because customers judge pellets by how the bags look
  • Sell whole pallets to bigger users and single bags to people topping up
  • Know your stock. Customers will ask about wood type, ash and pellet size, so keep the spec table above handy
  • Stock up before the first cold snap, when demand rises fast

Some resellers also carry a softwood line for customers who want quicker ignition. Our softwood heating pellets come by the pallet if you want to test demand before committing to a second truck.

Truckload or pallets?

If you’ll burn or sell around 24 tonnes in a season and have room to store it, bulk hardwood pellets by the truck are the simpler route. If you’re unsure of your usage, start with a few single pallets, track how fast they go, and step up next season. There’s no prize for over-buying, and pellets stored badly for two winters won’t be as good as fresh stock.

Storage at this scale

Keep bulk hardwood pellets dry, covered and off the ground. Leave a gap between stacks and walls so air can move. Keep the wrap on until a pallet is opened. Work through the stock in the order it arrived.

Pellets that take on water swell and break down into fines, and fines are what jam augers and choke burners. A dry store keeps the whole load usable to the last pallet.

Our own stock sits in a dry, humidity-controlled warehouse, and each pallet is wrapped before it’s loaded. More on how we work is on the about page.

Bulk hardwood pellets: questions we get

How much energy is in a truckload?

Quality wood pellets carry about 4.6 to 5 kWh per kilogram. Twenty-four tonnes of bulk hardwood pellets therefore hold around 110,000 to 120,000 kWh before boiler losses.

Is a truckload right for a single house?

Rarely. A household usually does better with one or two pallets of hardwood heating pellets or oak blend pellets.

Can I get a quote for regular loads through the season?

Yes. Send us your expected volume through the contact page.

Where can I compare all the pellet options?

See the truckload category, the hardwood pellets page and the full shop. Background on the fuel is on the wood pellet page.
